Xiaomi 17 Ultra Review: Worth the Hype?

I've been really impressed with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra so far. I chose the black 16GB RAM/1TB version and it feels like a proper premium flagship from the moment you pick it up. The design is clean and sophisticated, and the build quality feels excellent. It is a fairly substantial phone, but it doesn't feel cheaply made or uncomfortable to use.

Performance has been faultless for me. Everything feels quick and responsive, from opening apps and browsing to multitasking and running more demanding applications. The 16GB of RAM is more than enough, and having 1TB of storage is fantastic. I take a lot of photos and videos, so it's reassuring not to constantly worry about running out of space.

The camera is the real highlight. The Leica system produces excellent-looking photos with plenty of detail, and the 200MP telephoto is particularly impressive. The 75–100mm range gives you plenty of flexibility, whether you're taking portraits, photographing buildings or capturing something from a distance. Images remain detailed while still looking natural rather than excessively processed.

I've also been impressed with the HDR performance. The LOFIC HDR technology does a good job in difficult lighting, preserving detail in both bright and darker areas. HyperAI is an interesting addition too, although I think its usefulness will depend on which features you personally use.

One thing to be aware of is that there is no charger included, so you'll need to have a suitable one already or purchase one separately. The phone is unlocked, which is convenient, and the three years of warranty coverage is a nice bonus.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. It's fast, beautifully made and has an outstanding camera. If photography and performance are priorities, this is an easy phone to recommend.
