iPhone 18 Pro Review: Is Burgundy the One?

The Apple iPhone 18 Pro 512GB in Burgundy is a confident refinement of an already excellent flagship. Rather than completely reinventing the formula, Apple has focused on making the experience faster, more capable and a little more polished — and the result is a phone that feels remarkably well considered.

The Burgundy finish is easily one of the highlights. It has a rich, understated quality that shifts subtly between deep red and purple depending on the light. Combined with the colour-matched aluminium and glass, the design feels more cohesive than its predecessor. It is still a substantial phone at 211g, but the balance in the hand is reassuring rather than cumbersome. The 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display is, as expected, superb, with excellent brightness, clarity and responsiveness.

Performance is another strong point. The A20 Pro chip makes everyday tasks feel effortless, while demanding games, video editing and other intensive workloads benefit from improved sustained performance and thermal management. You are unlikely to find the phone struggling, even when pushing it hard.

The camera system is where the 18 Pro feels genuinely more interesting. Its 48MP main camera now features a variable aperture, giving greater control over depth of field while also helping in challenging lighting. New Pro controls are particularly welcome for photography enthusiasts, although casual users can simply point, shoot and let the phone do the clever work.

The 512GB storage option is generous and particularly sensible for anyone who records lots of 4K video, takes large photo libraries or keeps plenty of apps and media offline.

Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro 512GB Burgundy is an impressive all-rounder. It is expensive and not a dramatic leap for recent Pro owners, but its combination of elegant design, exceptional performance, versatile cameras and ample storage makes it a genuinely compelling premium smartphone.

  1. Some phones simply work; others quietly become part of our lives. Watching the iPhone 18 Pro reminds me how technology can capture moments we’re terrified of forgetting. Beneath all the polished glass and impressive cameras, that is what truly matters: preserving pieces of our lives before time carries them away forever.
